Liquid Filter Systems

Multiple Tube Filter Systems for Fine Filtration Applications

Liquid Filter Cutaway
The ADAMS IWF system is a multiple element tubular filter designed to remove fine particulate from liquid process streams. With a filter aid precoat, it will remove particulate as fine as 0.3 micron with flow rates in excess of 2 gallons per minute per square foot of filter area.

Rigid, Reliable Media Prevents Bypassing:

Liquid Filter Elements
ADAMS filters use Poro-Stone or Poro-Carbon filter elements, inert to most chemicals. These provide an excellent rigid support for filter aid precoat. They won't crack or flex like other filter elements during changes in pressure. This prevents contaminants from passing down-stream and adds to effluent quality and filter life.

Poro-Stone filter elements are made from a rugged porous aluminum oxide ceramic. Poro-Carbon is formed from durable porous carbon.

Simple to Operate with No Moving Internals:

The IWF filter has no internal moving parts. All precoat, filtration, or backwash cycles operate by either system or air pressure. It is a two chamber system with a tube sheet to separate and seal the clean from the unfiltered liquid. This simple but elegant design offers low maintenance with high filtration performance.

Clean in Place Avoids Down-time:

At the end of the filtration cycle, collected solids are removed by backwashing. The ADAMS air-bump backwash method conserves the most liquid and takes only a few seconds. A release of air pressure produces a vigorous flow and high velocity reversal back through the filter. Cleaning the elements in place saves time, money, and virtually eliminates the need for replacement of elements.

Automatic Operation Ensures Consistent Performance:

To reduce operator workload, a PLC is available to fully automate the system. The PLC operates all cycles and sequences so that one or more filter vessels are online at all times. A modem is available so ADAMS engineers can analyze, modify, or update programs over the phone.

Knowledge and Experience Provides You with the Best Solutions:

ADAMS has been designing and engineering filtration systems for more than 50 years. Our extensive experience can help you analyze your filtration requirements and provide the most complete and efficient system to meet your needs.

ADAMS will design a system to fit the physical requirements of your plant. All piping layout, electrical and electronic requirements are planned for easy installation and operation, including skid mounting. Finally, all components are thoroughly tested before shipment to assure proper performance.

Pilot Plant Filter with Production Plant Design:

The ADAMS LFH filter offers the same design characteristics as our IWF filter in a smaller, more compact size. It is an ideal filter for research or desing development. Or, if the liquid flow rate in your production system calls for limited volume, it can serve as a full scale process filter. Models from stock rnage from 14 to 40 square feet of filter area.

Typical Filter Applications:

  • Municipal Drinking Water: Complies with the Safe Drinking Water Act of 1986.
  • Chlor-Alkali Process: Either brine of caustic. Removes fine particulate for protection of process cells.
  • Industrial Waste Water: Filters trace elements to meet EPA discharge requirements.
  • Boiler Condensate: Removes suspended iron particles to protect boiler fire tubes.
  • Chemical Polishing Filtration: A final filtration step to protect downstream
