Potable Water Applications

Proven Filtration Technology for Safe Drinking Water:

There was a time when potable drinking water only required chlorination to pass safe drinking standards. However, in 1986 the federal government recognized that the addition of chlorine was no longer a sufficient remedy and enacted the Safe Drinking Water Act. These new regulations require potable water to be filtered. Research has shown that filtration is an important treatment process in the removal of pathogenic micro-organism such as Giardia and Cryptosporidium. In addition, filtration protects against waterborne diseases.

Experience You Can Rely On:

With over 40 years experience in liquid filtration, ADAMS has the process know-how to address your drinking water filtration requirements.

We offer flexibility in our filtration designs and can incorporate either a standard or customized packaged system to meet your needs. Our systems range from manual systems, shipped in major subassemblies for field installation, to total factory assembled, skid mounted, packaged systems that can be designed to handle up to 5 million gallons per day.

A typical system, shown above, includes filters, pumps, valves, interconnecting piping, instrumentation and mixing equipment that can be skid mounted.

The ADAMS filtration system uses diatomaceous earth (DE) as a filter aid, thereby eliminating the need for chemical additives that can be expensive to purchase and difficult to maintain. Our proven technology is widely recognized by the federal government as the most effective means to filter potable water, especially where groundwater under the influence of surface water (GUDI) exists.

Putting the Filter System to the TestL

The federal government requires that a pilot test be performed on the filtration system that is being selected to treat potable water. This is to ensure that the technology complies with the Safe Drinking Water Act. In an effort to better serve our customers, ADAMS commissioned a state-of-the-art Pilot Testing facility. This facility is contained in a mobile trailer making it convenient to be brought directly to your site for immediate testing of your water source. The facility includes laser particle counters, turbidimeters and computer-based graphics and reporting for quick and easy analysis of raw and filtered water quality.
